Northern Lens

Chugiak High School
Eagle River, Alaska

Commissioned by the City of Anchorage

A light-responsive lens comprised of dichroic glass facets configured onto an elliptical tensile structure of stainless-steel tubes, cables and fittings to create a “lens” structure to interact with the southern meridian of the sun and project orange light onto and into the school. These projections change with the seasons and the angle of sunlight.
